Winter Park Vet offers CT (Computed Tomography) technology, which provides human-quality advanced diagnostic imaging for pets. We utilize CT scans during pet dental procedures, to diagnose certain conditions in exotic pets, and for other pets requiring advanced diagnostics, including neurological disorders (disk disease, seizures, etc.) and orthopedic issues.
Your pet needs to be fully anesthetized to undergo a CT scan. Your pet will be placed on a special table that is slowly advanced into the part of the machine that performs the scan. An x-ray tube rotates 360 degrees around your pet to record the x-rays in thin slices from many different angles. When the computer finishes internally processing all the x-rays, it creates an image on a monitor. In general, CT scans provide more detailed information than traditional x-rays and dye (contrast media) can also be injected (if needed) into your pet’s bloodstream to further outline any abnormalities.
With expanded diagnostic imaging capability and experienced veterinarians under one roof, the veterinary team at Winter Park Vet is committed to innovative, high quality care for all types of pets. Please call to schedule a consult if you have been advised your pet needs a CT scan.
