ASHLIEGH ALFONSO, DVM

Dr. Ashliegh Alfonso grew up in South Florida where she completed her Bachelor’s degree at Florida Atlantic University along with a minor in Communications. While completing her degree, she worked in wildlife medicine, sea turtle research, and general practice with cats and dogs. These experiences shaped her goals of wanting to be a veterinarian who can help a variety of animals.

Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Alfonso spent many semesters volunteering at the South Florida Wildlife Center before completing a rotational internship there. After her internship, she returned to the center a few years later as a veterinary extern. During her undergraduate studies, she also participated in sea turtle research that monitored turtle sex determination and how it was influenced by the warming temperatures of South Florida beaches. Both experiences were valuable in shaping her passion for conservation and preserving our natural wildlife.

Dr. Alfonso received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida in 2023. Along with her degree, she also received a certificate in Veterinary Business Management. She then completed 1 year of small animal general practice medicine where she was able to develop her skills and love for dogs and cats before joining the Winter Park family. She is excited to join WPVH where she can continue to learn canine and feline medicine from the exceptionally skilled team at WPVH while growing her skills in exotic animal medicine.

When not working, Dr. Alfonso’s hobbies include traveling, hiking, video games, rug tufting and watching tv. She also enjoys spending time with her dog, Xena, and has a ball python named Fire Lord Sozin.

She looks forward to meeting your furry, feathered or scaly friends soon.
